CEC, like all electric cooperatives, is owned by those who purchase its energy rather than faceless investors. Everything we do is centered around service to the customer and the community. We also believe strongly in the development and well being of our nation’s youth and focus much effort towards helping young people become great scholars and citizens.

CEC is proud to participate in programs such as Youth Tour. This program involves an essay and a speech for two hard working students. The winners receive a trip to the Nation’s capital along with about 60 other student scholars from across Oklahoma. They meet up in Washington, D.C. with young people from almost every state in the Union for a week long journey into history. Youth Tour has produced highly successful business leaders as well as elected government officials at every level.

Energy Camp focuses its leadership qualities and learning opportunities on the great outdoors. A week long stay in the beautiful Red Rock Canyon area with day trips to some of the finest and most interesting places in Oklahoma. Eighth grade students who are just beginning to understand the need for great leaders are what we look for to attend Energy Camp.

One of the most gratifying and fulfilling efforts that CEC participates in is Special Olympics. If you have never served as a “hugger” at the finish line, then you can’t begin to imagine the overwhelming joy of helping a young person with physical disabilities. Cameras can not adequately capture the sheer determination on the faces of those challenged by life’s unfairness as they cross the finish line. Whether in first place or last, it is a look that can only be captured in the heart. Our very own Keith DeVaughan of the Member Services Dept. travels to Stillwater, OK every year to not only encourage his own son, but to share the accomplishments of other participants. Way to go Keith!
